Spain is among the leading and central countries of the global and European energy industries. This is due to the extensive and high-value energy sector present in the state. It comprises more than 2 600 enterprises that employ more than 200 000 specialists. Such firms represent the entire value chain. This includes sub-sectors, such as renewable energy and energy storage. It also features LNG, green hydrogen, transportation, and distribution. Diverse companies represent such sections of the industry. Among them are small and medium-sized enterprises and extensive, time-honoured corporations. This results in a sector that represents a strategic industry for the state. This contributes up to 20% of the country’s GDP through its high turnover. For example, in recent years, the sector's top seven corporations have reached revenue values of over 19 000 000 000 EUR. Spain’s energy industry is additionally among the sectors with high investments and potential. For example, the segment is expected to exceed employment rates of 250 000 specialists in the upcoming decades. It is also anticipated to reach a GDP contribution of around 22% in the same period. This will be achieved by further developing the renewable energy sector through investments. One such example is the Hydrogen Roadmap, a state project totalling expenditures of 8 900 000 000 EUR. Often, the industry displays its latest innovations during annual trade expos. Such events attract tens of thousands of attendees.
