France is one of the leading countries in the European and global catering sector. This is due to the state being among the time-honoured and high-value segments of the industry. This is a result of its high turnover and extensiveness. For instance, the country’s catering sector features 175,000 restaurants and more than 100,000 enterprises. Such establishments employ over 570,000 specialists. They range from wait staff and chefs to administrative and managerial staff. As a result, the catering segment is among the most extensive employers of the French economy. This results in annual multi-billion turnovers. For instance, in recent years, the sector has reached a revenue of approximately 114 000 000 000 EUR. The catering segment comprises diverse types of catering establishments. They range from traditional ones, such as restaurants, to fast food locations. Fast food, in particular, represents 37% of the total number of catering establishments in the country. It has recorded 13 000 business creations per year, or 4.6% of all business creations in the state. Catering additionally is among the sectors of the French economy with a high focus on innovations. This especially applies in recent years. This is due to novel solutions aiding in adapting the sector’s wares to the latest standards and challenges.
