SMM will return to Messe Hamburg as a live trade exhibition between the 5th and 8th of September 2028. 

Preface

SMM (SMM Hamburg) is a biannual marine industry trade exhibition of high importance. It is the leading trade show for the marine industry. SMM is the main event for addressing the latest standards and regulations. It also allows professionals to discuss challenges. Furthermore, it is the location for governments to discuss naval security challenges. The event occurs in the Hamburg Messe und Congress.

The exhibition attracts professionals such as shipowners and operators, shipyard managers/operators, suppliers and marine interior specialists. SMM is an event that attracts a large and diverse group of attendees. For instance, one iteration included 50 000 visitants, 70 international speakers, 27 political or navy delegations, and 2 249 exhibitor firms. Attendants represent 125 countries, including the Commonwealth of Australia, the United States, Brazil, the People’s Republic of China, Norway, and South Africa. Both exhibitors and visitors consider the event to be worth attending. For instance, 95% of the exhibitor firms deem SMM an excellent expansion opportunity. 93% of the visitors regard the event to be of great importance. Also, 97% of the exhibitors attribute networking success to the event.

About SMM Hamburg in Germany

Past Iterations

SMM Hamburg 2021

The 2021 iteration occurred in a digital format due to the pandemic. Over 160 speakers addressed various topics, attracting over 7 000 digital visitants from 80 nations. Around 84 virtual business meetings were held during the rendition. It also included over 100 presentations. Topics included digitalisation and environmental protection.

SMM Hamburg 2022

SMM 2022 Hamburg marked the return of the event to live hosting focused on carbon neutrality. This was emphasised via the comprehensive event programme and the wares of 2,000 exhibitors who were over-viewed by more than 30,000 visitors.

SMM Hamburg 2024

SMM 2024 Hamburg reaffirmed the event's position as a pre-eminent international maritime trade expo. It was held as a live event in Hamburg Messe und Congress between 03.06.2024 and 06.09.2024. It was attended by over 48 000 attendants from more than 100 nations. This included over 300 lecturers, more than 2 200 exhibiting firms, and 29 naval representatives from 19 countries.

SMM Hamburg 2026

SMM 2026 in Hamburg took place as a live trade expo. It featured over 50 000 attendants from 134 nations. These included around 2 300 exhibiting frims from 66 countries, more than 70% of them from abroad and presenting in an exhibition space exceeding 90 000 m2.
