Munich is among the notable and influential metropolitan areas of the German science sector. This is due to the urban centre being one of the notable sites of the Bavaria cluster. It is among the critical segments of the industry. This is due to its extensiveness and high annual contributions to the R&D value of the Federative Republic of Germany. For example, it has produced, in recent years, up to 3.40% of the state’s GDP and R&D expenditure. It equates to up to 24 388 000 000 EUR of produced R&D value and turnover within the federative region. Such values are generated by more than 159 000 directly and indirectly employed researchers. They operate as developers within diverse industrial branches. These include, for example, ICT, automotive, finance, and insurance. They also encompass logistics, transportation, manufacturing, mobility, aerospace, energy, et cetera. Such experts also operate within diverse higher education institutions and research centres. This results in the Bavarian sector being among the notable innovation hubs to the related German segment. For example, apart from the values, the cluster also applies for and receives over 800 patents per year. Generally, the segment presents its latest solutions and projects during trade expos. These include annual and biannual events held in Munich. Such expos attract tens of thousands of attendees to the city and the region.
