Sweden is among the wood industry's leading, central and time-honoured countries. This is due to its extensiveness, high values and innovativeness. The sector is of significant comprehensiveness and value due to the magnitude of its forests. The area spans 70% of Sweden’s territory. It includes a notable number of private forest owners who have recently reached more than 30 000. This is due to the state being one of the most extensive exporters of wood industry wares. For example, it has recently exported around 80% of its products. It represents 6.7% of Sweden’s merchandise exports. These include pulp, paper and sawn timber. Around 2 out of three wood-based products manufactured within the country are exported to the EU. This results in the Swedish wood industry producing up to 186 000 000 000 SEK via exports. The sector is also among the related industries' central and leading innovation hubs. This is due to the high focus and investments it places on researching and developing innovations. For example, it has invested up to 15 800 000 000 SEK in recent years to develop novel solutions. Generally, it presents its latest innovations during trade shows. Examples include triennial events in diverse Swedish cities. They attract tens of thousands of attendees.
