The Port Authority is also among the chief drivers of the segment’s central focus on research and development. This is due to the organisation investing notable values in the development of the segment. For example, in recent years, the Authority has invested a gross value of 295 000 000 EUR. Generally, the segment presents its latest innovations during trade expos. It includes annual events in Rotterdam that attract thousands of attendees from various countries.
