Monaco Yacht Show 2021 took place between 22.09.2021 and 25.09.2021 at Port Hercule in Monaco. It featured a new event format focused on visiting future yacht customers. Organisers worked hard to create an edition that catered to attendee expectations. MYS 2021 featured a diversified show with several new novelties, including better optimisation. The event had an improved division between the thematic exhibition areas. This allowed visitors to locate the zones that interest them with ease.

The first day of the edition was available to visitors by invitation only. Said day received many shipowners, future buyers, and charters. Three hundred of the visitors received an invitation from the MYS. Most attended the Dockside Area, which presented a broad range of yachts and tenders. The Area featured exhibitors such as leading designers, maritime brokerage agencies and shipyards.

Advisers who represent shipowners, charters, and buyers also attended on the first day. Their focus areas included the Antoine ler Quay and the various air-conditioned tents. This enabled them to discuss topics with equipment manufacturers and luxury companies.

The first day was a continuation of the previous day, 21.09.2021. It is when the Monaco Yacht Summit took place. The Summit welcomed approximately 60 attendees. Among them were shipowners, renters, future buyers, and advisers. It also included leading ship designers, shipbrokers, and builders. The Summit enabled attendants to discuss important topics. Among them were the fundamentals of ship construction, renting and purchasing yachts.

One of the novelties presented at the MYS 2021 was the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub. The Hub allowed visitors to learn more about bespoke yacht construction. It additionally enabled them to learn about the future superyacht design trends. The Hub also presented the works of leading exhibitors. Among them were Luiz De Basto Designs, Sam Sorgiovanni, and Winch Design. The Hub received high interest, with many opting to tour the area and meet design experts.

Another novel zone was the “Sailing Yacht area” exhibition. It presented 12 tall ships and helped to promote said sea vessels to yacht customers. This included being able to revel in a sportier form of navigation and to be more sustainable.

MYS 2021 received a high number of trade visitors. A total of 19 000 visitors and 440 exhibitors attended the edition. The show presented 101 superyachts including 14 that were over 70 metres long. This exceeded the estimated 300 exhibitors and 90 yachts.

According to participants and organisers, Monaco Yacht Show 2021 was a great success. For instance, exhibitor shipbuilders and brokers report that yacht on-board visits were productive. Many of the exhibitors had full schedules from the first day. This shows that the industry is entering a favourable phase. This likely is due to many opting to buy a yacht to travel and enjoy some form of freedom during the pandemic.

According to exhibitor manufacturers, the new format will add great long-term value. Following the success of MYS 2021, organisers have opted to proceed with the hosting of MYS 2022. Monaco Yacht Show 2022 will take place between 28.09.2022 and 1.10.2022 as a face-to-face exhibition.
