Cannes is among the leading, central and time-honoured cities of the French film and media industry. This is due to the city’s comparatively compact yet high-value film and media sector. It is part of the Côte d'Azur film and media cluster. It comprises more than 510 enterprises that employ more than 9 700 specialists. These represent the entire value chain, including production, distribution, technical maintenance, et cetera. Various types of companies represent such sections in the city and cluster. They include small and medium-sized enterprises, independent contractors, and extensive time-honoured corporations. Among them are production, service providing, artist casting, and technician-related entities. This results in the municipality and cluster producing over 530 projects. Such projects range from advertising clips to full-feature films. This, in turn, contributes high direct and indirect revenues. For example, in recent years, they have produced 59 152 418 EUR of direct and 136 050 561 indirect turnovers. This totals more than 195 202 000 EUR of overall revenue. In addition, Cannes and the Côte d'Azur cluster are among the French filming industry’s leading innovation hubs. This is due to their chief focus on research and development. It aids them in adapting to the latest viewer demands and challenges. Generally, they display their latest projects and innovations during annual trade expos. Such events attract tens of thousands of attendees.
