You Should Never Miss Nor-Fishing for These 10 Reasons

26 May 2022

Nor-Fishing holds a special place in the international fishing industry as a long-standing trade fair servicing the fishery, ship and fishing equipment sectors. Running since 1960, the event has been central to Norway’s economy and enjoys frequent visits from the Royal Family. In its beginning, Nor-Fishing served as a host for Scandinavian countries, but today the trade fair attracts exhibitors and visitors from over 50 countries to Trondheim Spektrum, where it switches out with AQUA NOR every other year.

Nor-Fishing maintains a comprehensive product assortment. There’s everything you might ever need – fish processing, fishing boats, fishing equipment, fishing ports, cooling devices, electronics, environmental protection, packaging, research, safety equipment and so much more to discover. It’s the reason why more than 17,000 trade visitors attended in previous years. That’s because the 500 exhibitors at Nor-Fishing represent the entire value chain. It’s the perfect marketplace.

To underscore the importance of the products on display, the Nor-Fishing Foundation has created several awards handed out each edition for exemplary work and achievements. Exhibitors can fight for the first place for the Best Stand Award during Nor-Fishing, the Directorate of Fisheries’ Environment Award and the Innovation Award. It’s this last award that gets the crowds buzzing, because not only does it earn its winner visibility and prestige, but it comes with a good lump sum of prize money. Many companies have been able to kick start their business after winning!

Nor-Fishing is a place of business first and foremost. However, this doesn’t mean that the general public is prohibited from entering. Doors are open to anyone interested in the fishing industry and can make direct purchases at the trade fair, which is incredibly useful when it comes to receiving direct feedback from end consumers.

Build on top of your experience by signing up for some of the extra events taking place. You don’t want to miss out on the information programme. Seminars, mini-conferences, lectures and debates are all part of the greater conference, which gives you a chance not just to learn from the best, but also openly discuss hot topics with experts, engineers and influencers.

Organisers understand the value of a good work-life balance. Sometimes, the best connections are formed not on the exhibition floor, but after hours when you don’t have to be on all the time. That is why Nor-Fishing has developed a stellar social programme with several informal events to help you mingle successfully. If you’re more of a nighttime person, then the Night Fish party is perfect for you. Or maybe you want to get a good night’s rest.

Then there’s an afternoon option – After Fish! The event takes place after Trondheim Spektrum closes doors and you can spend a few hours talking with colleagues at your own leisure. The biggest social event of them all, however, is the Gala Dinner! Bring out your best dress or suit, and head over to the Clarion Brattøra Hotel for an unforgettable dinner and entertainment. Currently, interest in the gala dinner has skyrocketed, which led to doubling the capacity of the event to 400.

It’s always exciting when an event opens a new chapter in its history and Nor-Fishing has readily taken the plunge during its off time because of the pandemic. In addition to now returning to the fully renovated Trondheim Spektrum, Nor-Fishing has made great steps towards updating its offers to trade visitors and exhibitors alike by embracing digital technologies. From here on out, you can download the exhibition app to better navigate the halls with the map feature, store tickets and also look up information on public transportation. For those unable to attend, a lot of the content has been made available to livestream and users can also participate in virtual networking.
