TEFAF 2024 will be hosted between the 9th and 14th of March 2024. The Maastricht Exhibition & Congress Center (MECC) will host the event. Currently, the Netherlands does not have coronavirus restrictions in place.

Preface

The European Fine Art Fair or TEFAF is the world’s leading fine art fair. Annually, the event has two editions. The first occurs in Maastricht, Netherlands, while the second is in New York, USA. The Maastricht edition extends over 7 millenniums of art history. The TEFAF art fair displays artworks in every fine art category. This includes antiques, Old Masters, contemporaneous paintings and others. Each artwork displayed at the event has undergone a stringent vetting process. The fair is among Maastricht’s leading ones. The fair takes place at the city’s premier venue, the MECC.

The TEFAF fair attracts many art & antique specialists. Such include artists looking for inspiration or to gain recognition and art lovers. It also features connoisseurs and specialists from institutes of fine art. The Maastricht TEFAF attracts more than 280 exhibitors and around 74 000 visitants. Attendees represent over 20 countries, including Japan, China, France, Italy, Brazil, Spain, the UK, and the USA. 

About TEFAF

TEFAF is a leading global fine art and antiques event with several goals. These include expanding the art knowledge of its attendees. Maastricht TEFAF also helps artists and dealers by providing an opportunity to gain recognition. It is also a platform for the purchasing of fine works of art.

The fair has a diverse program that it uses to achieve its goals. This includes the TEFAF Program, which features diverse lecture sessions. These allow networking with leading specialists in the global art community. Examples feature pre-eminent museum, art and antique professionals such as curators. During the sessions, the curators reveal important information. This includes essential industry insights, experiences, trends, or inspiration.

Besides the Program, the fair provides two other means of expanding knowledge. Such include the TEFAF Talks, which consist of hand-selected conversations. The other means is the Meet the Experts section. It allows attendees to listen to recorded narratives about selected masterpieces. There are also the TEFAF Fair tours. Said tours guide listeners through the 7 millenniums of art history. Attendees can also look forward to the Art Market Report.

Several branches of the creative industry attend the fair as visitors. These include museums, galleries, and libraries. Attendees also present the music, performing, and visual arts and crafts branches. Other branches present at the fair include architecture, advertising and marketing, and design.

Past Iterations

TEFAF 2020 

The 2020 edition of TEFAF was among the fair's most successful. It featured 285 participating exhibitors. It was also the first digital edition. 

TEFAF 2021 

The 2021 edition of TEFAF once again featured an invite-only Early Access Day. The exhibition showcased around 700 works from more than 260 exhibitors. The highlights included 16 exemplary works by several world-renowned dealers. 

TEFAF 2022

TEFAF Maastricht 2022 heralded the fair's triumphant return. Maastricht TEFAF 2022 was organised as a hybrid event. Covid-19 safety safeguards were not present at the Maastricht Exhibition & Congress Center. This was due to the country removing its domestic restrictions. The iteration was attended by 242 exhibitor firms from 20 countries and by more than 90 museums.

TEFAF 2023

TEFAF Maastricht 2023 occurred as a live art fair without implemented coronavirus safeguards. It was hosted between the 11th and 19th of March, 2023 in MECC. It was attended by over 250 art institutions, 270 exhibiting organisations and over 50 000 visitants.

TEFAF 2024

TEFAF Maastricht 2024 was a live trade art exposition hosted in between the 9th and 14th of March 2024 in MECC. It was attended during its preview days by 272 exhibiting galleries from 22 nations, 300 museum directors, 650 museum curators and 40 museum patron groups. It was also attended by around 50 000 visitants.
